a new mix is under construction

I took a short break after releasing that double disc best of 2010 mix and now I'm back at work on a new one. Actually, I've got about 5 different mixes going but the one that is rising quickly to the surface is an all covers mix. And while covers can often create a weaker version of the original, on this mix I'm really striving for artists who all do a great job of re-interpreting the songs in their own style. So far I'm pleased. stay tuned as I can see this one being wrapped up in a few weeks.

The Best of 2010 mix is in the mail...

...and should be arriving in people's mailboxes early next week if they haven't received it already. I have several mix concepts currently brewing so stay tuned!

The trilogy mix is in the mail!

The Sex, Drugs & Rock n' Roll triple mix is in the mail. It's a silly concept mix that was quite fun to put together. There were some definite carryover artists, which I thought actually helped tie the three themes together. The Rock mix was slightly different then the other two in that it was a little more vague in theme and more about songs with kickass drums and guitar going on. That mix was just a snippet of rock, and there were some great bands that didn't make the mix. I certainly think that Jimi Hendrix, the Pixies, U2, the Who, the Rolling Stones, etc., all rock despite their omission, but as always there's only so much space on a mix. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the new tunes! I'm definitely gonna be putting out a two disc best of 2010 mix, but beyond that I'll just have to see what comes up. stay tuned...

I've been on hiatus with a long vacation followed by a grueling apt move, but I am still slowly working on the next mix. I'll get it out here soon. Stay tuned...

May Mix is Mailed!

The May mix is in the mail. A few weeks ago it was shaping up to be pretty good but I've really added some quality tracks and dropped some of the weaker stuff and now I'm really pleased with the result. It covers a fairly wide range musically and has both old and new stuff so it's pretty traditional mix-wise. I have some theme mixes coming up this summer so keep checking back for those. To those people who picked up a copy of the latest mix, enjoy the tunes!

Early May mix

I'm finishing up a mix that is a pretty random bunch of tunes that I've been listening to a lot lately that just don't have a home mix wise. So I'm just compiling them all together into a mix of misfit tracks so to speak. Uptempo, downtempo, new, old. The tracks are too good (in my opinion) to be left by the wayside though so I'm finishing up this spring compilation and will have it ready to ship very soon. An April Update

I hope those of you who received the March mix are enjoying it. I have a new mix in the works to be released in late April at some point. It's going to be a mix of some new stuff but also several older artists whom I've been listening to quite a bit these days. Additionally, a friend has requested a delta blues mix from me and so I'm putting the finishing touches on that one right now. If you would like a copy, let me know. March mix is in the mail!

Marching Onward

I'm in the tinkering stage of the upcoming mix which means it should be mailing out in the next two weeks or so. With a few exceptions, it's a very mellow sounding mix. I've got all sorts of different ideas brewing for upcoming mixes so stay tuned. I'll post shortly once I've mailed it to the people who would like a copy. Two new mixes!!

As I was recently working on my latest mix I received a request for some gym music, so I very enthusiastically whipped up an upbeat, fun exercise mix to deliver. I wanted to make sure that it was available to anyone who might like a copy so feel free to request one by simply emailing me or commenting a request below (if I already have your address info).

Also... my sister Heather has managed to get me hooked on the show Deadwood and as I am wrapping up season one here I decided to create an Ode to Deadwood mix. It's a mix filled with banjo, fiddle, guitar fingerpicking, harmonica and plenty of tunes about gambling, gunfights and rough & rowdy ways. If that sounds up your alley then please request a copy.

As I stated before I'm currently working on a wintry, instrumental mix. I'll be getting that out soon but I just had to get these other two mixes out first given the spontaneous nature in which they were created.

a new mix is brewing

I hope those of you who requested the "2009 Rewind" mix are enjoying it. I'm fast at work on the next mix which will be a winter storm soundtrack of sorts. Mixes are nearing completion

Hey all, Just want to let you know that the mixes are nearly finished and I'm still on track to mail them out next week. I think they sound pretty solid. I'm mostly just tweaking here and there at this point. The French mix is very much a syrupy smooth Port, whereas the British mix has more of a shot and a pint kind of feel. November Mix in progress

The November mix is in production! I'm heading to London for Thanksgiving and I'm very excited, so I've decided to make a British mix before I go. Since I'm also spending a day in Paris I've also decided to take a stab at a French mix as well. My collection of French music is quite small but so far I'm pleased with the results. I'm planning on getting this double disc mix out to any interested takers by Thanksgiving so if you're interested in copies feel free to email me and request a copy. an Update

Thanks to all of you who have grabbed a copy of the Halloween mix. I hope it's helping to put you all in the spirit of the season. At this point I'm gearing up for the next mix but I could probably scare up one or two copies of the Halloween mix before moving on to the next one. The next mix by the way is definitely gonna be out before Thanksgiving (and no, it's not a Thanksgiving mix). It might be a double disc though, so keep checking back so you don't miss out on a copy!

New mix is available!

In keeping with the autumn spirit I have kicked off the mix making with a Halloween mix. It's probably not the most accessable mix I'll post on here but if you'd like a fun, spooky mix to get you in the spirit for the upcoming holiday, then by all means request a copy via email. PS. In keeping with the mood of Halloween let me just strongly recommend the movie Zombieland to anyone who likes their comedy mixed with gore. It was a hilarious film in my opinion and perfect for this time of year.

I enjoy making mixes. But more than that I enjoy sharing the mixes I make with others. I used to make tapes, but that technology fizzled out so I grudgingly switched to CDs. Now that Ipods and such rule the music listening world, the mix CD that I so love to craft is rapidly disappearing as well. But I won't be going gently into that good night. My plan is to make and share my mixes with those who want them for as long as is possible.
